The seventeenth edition of Copinger and Skone James on Copyright (Sweet and Maxwell International Series, 2016) has been published. This volume provides a comprehensive overview on the classification and scope of the protection of copyright, related rights and design rights. Chapter 26 focuses upon the exploitation of rights in particular industries, to which Peter Wienand and Owen O’Rorke have contributed a section on the newspaper industry. In this they detail the nature of the industry, sources of copyright, rights required for exploitation, representative collecting societies and licensing agencies responsible for administering the rights, industry controls and other industry concerns.
