Research project on the Equality Act 2010 and its impact on charities

The Charity Law & Policy Unit at the University of Liverpool School of Law and Social Justice is undertaking a research project investigating charities' experience of the impact of the Equality Act 2010.

Farrer & Co has already contributed to represent our experiences as professional advisers and our view of the issues the Act has raised for the sector as a whole, including Universities, schools, religious organisations and other charities. For the next stage of their research, the team would be very interested to hear directly from charities about their experiences of the Act.

The Act presents issues of particular interest to HEIs, particularly in the context of targeted scholarships (an issue considered in our briefings in September 2011, June 2011 and November 2010). We would therefore encourage anyone with experience of the practical impact of the Act to contact the research team (jennifer.sigafoos@liverpool.ac.uk). Interviews last an hour or less, and take place at a location of your choice. All information is anonymised.

The research will be used to compile a report and practical guidance for charities, and may be used to provide recommendations for reform of relevant legislation and official guidance.
