High-value, complex trust litigation

We were impressed by Farrer & Co’s understanding of complex trust issues and their practical cost-effective approach.

Client

Farrer is acting for Russa Management Limited and others, trustee of Intertraders Trust, in proceedings brought before the Royal Court in Jersey by members of a wealthy Saudi-based family.

The dispute surrounds a Shari’a Trust and all attempts at mediation have been unsuccessful. The value of claims is estimated to exceed $100million, making it one of the most significant contentious trust cases in value alone.

It involves numerous parties, and has been ongoing since 2003. It has resulted in 26 reported decisions of the Royal Court and Court of Appeal, and petitions to the Privy Council; to date there have been 170 hearings and over 6,000 pages of pleadings.

A Senior Partner at Viberts, Instructing Advocates in Alhamrani v Russa Management Limited and others, says: “We were impressed by Farrer & Co’s understanding of complex trust issues and their practical cost-effective approach.”
