Competition law

Farrers are helpful, supportive and prompt, and provides excellent seminars to keep us up-to-date on the latest developments.

Chambers & Partners, 2011

We advise our clients on competition law issues when they crop up in day-to-day business as part of a contractual arrangement or simply because of a client’s market position. Our corporate team regularly advises clients on the competition law implications of any joint venture or sale or acquisition of a business.

We have experience of representing clients under investigation by the OFT for potential breaches of competition law from the initial stages through to the issue of a decision and follow-on actions in the CAT. We have also advised on leniency applications in that context. We work closely with competition law counsel in these cases.

On a more day-to-day basis we advise our clients on whether proposed arrangements are likely to infringe the competition rules – for example in the context of their pricing strategies and distribution arrangements.

To ensure you always stay the right side of the law, we offer a compliance training programme to minimise the risk of competition law infringements. Should you come under investigation, we have the knowledge and negotiation skills to represent you with a clear and practical approach, bringing matters to a swift and cost-effective conclusion.
