David advises on all aspects of income tax, capital gains tax, corporation tax, SDLT and VAT, and maintains a particular focus on complex transactions, disputes with HMRC, and international tax issues.

Alongside his transactional and contentious work David is developing a market-leading practice advising on tax law in a poverty alleviation context.  His clients include ActionAid and the Tax Justice Network.

In November 2011, David was included in the Tax Journal's guide to 40 outstanding tax professionals under the age of 40. The guide, which places him alongside a number of tax partners at high-ranking city firms, may be viewed here.

Who we help

David has extensive experience advising on the UK tax aspects (and in particular on the VAT aspects) of complex transactions involving charities. He has also assisted several charities in resolving disputes with HMRC.

David has substantial experience advising individuals and families on the UK tax aspects of company and group reorganisations, notably where there is an international element. He also has extensive experience in assisting individuals and businesses in resolving disputes with HMRC.

Career

David was called to the bar in 2004. After pupillage at 3 Stone Buildings and Landmark Chambers, he joined the tax department at Allen & Overy LLP, where he specialised in the taxation of corporate and financial transactions. He joined Farrer & Co in December 2007.
