Career

Laura trained at Farrer & Co and qualified as a solicitor in the Banking team in September 2015. Before joining the firm, Laura taught a variety of legal subjects, such as taxation law, corporate law and international law, at institutions including Melbourne University and the University of Cambridge. She continues to lecture on such contemporary legal matters in the UK and abroad on a regular basis.

Education

Pembroke, Cambridge (MA, Law); Melbourne, Australia (LL.M); Kaplan Law School, London (LPC).

Laura assists both lenders and borrowers with a range of domestic and international banking matters. This includes complex unsecured and secured financing transactions; with security being taken over a variety of assets including real estate, interests in quoted and unquoted companies, and a range of chattels such as artwork.

She not only advises financial institutions, but public and private companies, charities, trustees and private individuals.  For several years, Laura has also served as a trustee of a national children's charity which has given her a unique insight into the particular financing concerns of charitable organisations and trustees.

During 2016/17 Laura was seconded as Legal Counsel to the in-house legal team at Deutsche Bank.  During this time she supported numerous asset finance, real estate finance and structured finance transactions.  She also assisted with the application and review of regulatory issues affecting wealth management, including consumer law and the Mortgage Credit Directive.  Through her time at Deutsche Bank,  Laura has developed a thorough understanding of how the transaction process operates within financial institutions and a greater commercial understanding of debt transactions from both a lender and borrower perspective.
