Mark advises private clients both domestically and internationally. Mark’s expertise includes tax, trusts and succession issues for clients from all over the world, including some of the world’s wealthiest families.

His work includes setting and implementing strategies to hold large fortunes in tax-effective ways. Recognised as a leader in his field, Mark also practises in the field of contentious trusts and succession, both domestically and internationally.

Mark’s clients benefit from his broad network of experienced advisers, ensuring they receive the best advice possible in their jurisdiction.

He was Private Solicitor to the Queen between 2002 and January 2019, and was Solicitor for the Affairs of the Duchy of Lancaster from 1998 to 2012.

Mark has been listed in ALM’s Private Client Global Elite 2019.

Mark qualified as a solicitor in 1980.

Mark’s experienced and collaborative approach to succession planning and estate administration work helps clients and their estates mitigate their tax exposure and ensures smooth intergenerational succession to a variety of assets, be it substantial landed estates, family businesses or trust interests. He has worked with a number of our client families for several decades.

Trustees

Mark acts for a range of trustees and beneficiaries involved in both international and domestic trusts. He provides pragmatic, commercially-minded advice and steers contentious issues to swift resolutions. His approach is firm but sensitive to the needs of his clients.

Family Offices

In advising family offices and in family governance matters Mark provides an expert guiding hand. His knowledge of tax, trust and regulatory matters is comprehensive, and his approach is collaborative and sensitive to family dynamics and reputational issues.
