Career

Philip trained at Clifford Chance LLP, spending time in both the London and Moscow offices and also on secondment to a not-for-profit client. He then worked in the Charities team at Veale Wasbrough Vizards LLP before joining Farrer & Co in Spring 2015.

Education

University of Cambridge (Trinity Hall), BA(Hons) and MA Archaeology & Anthropology; University of Durham (Ustinov College), MA Archaeology; Graduate Diploma in Law; Legal Practice Course.

Philip advises charity and not-for-profit clients on a wide range of charity law and related issues. This includes governance and strategic matters, mergers and restructuring, establishment and registration, trading and their relationship with non-charitable subsidiaries, tax, fundraising and regulatory issues.

He has contributed chapters to two books on charity law: 'Charity Governance' (Jordans, 2014) and 'Charity Law – Global Guide' (Sweet & Maxwell, 2016, also available on Practical Law).

Philip is a trustee of a heritage charity in east London.
