Julian heads the firm's contentious media practice and its Sports Group.

He has 20 years experience of acting for both large scale media organisations and those the subject of media attention across the full spectrum of legal issues that arise. Much of his practice involves high profile and complex cases.

His reputation management practice typically centres around crisis management for high profile individuals, companies, charities, sports bodies and institutions.

Julian will often work with public relations advisers when advising on reputation management matters. Clients may have a domestic or international interest.

Julian is "widely regarded as one of the leading media lawyers, at the very top of his profession" according to the Legal 500 2012.

Who we help

Julian's contentious media practice involves advising on defamation, privacy, injunctions, copyright, contempt, reporting restictions, pre and post publication. He acts across all media platforms, including press, television, radio, internet and social media. He also regularly advises on media regulatory issues such as in relation to the Press Complaints Commission, OFCOM and the ASA.

Julian is Head of the Sports Group. As part of his contentious media practice, Julian regularly advises National Governing Bodies and others involved in sport on reputation management issues, whether that is in dealing with mainstream media platforms or, at the other end of the spectrum, managing reputations in respect of stakeholders and internal disputes within a particular sport.
