Alina has particular expertise in dealing with challenging cases which do not neatly fit within the Immigration Rules and therefore requires discretionary consideration by the Home Office. She provides strategic advice and works alongside businesses, entrepreneurs, investors and start-ups wishing to establish commercial presence in the UK, as well as existing UK businesses requiring assistance with staff relocation matters. As part of her work with institutions and companies in relation to sponsor licence matters, Alina also works with educational providers on Tier 4 sponsor licences.
Alina also specialises in immigration matters concerning individuals and families. She often works with overseas family offices, wealth management institutions and other advisers in relation to such matters. Alina prides herself on translating the efforts of multiple professionals into a comprehensive and most practical immigration solution for her clients. Frequently she coordinates her advice with tax advisers to make sure that the client reaches the desirable tax-efficient status.
Alina is highly knowledgeable in family immigration matters relating to partners and children and in particular applications concerning sole responsibility for the children. She also regularly advises on matters relating to European Free Movement with an emphasis on Brexit requirements.
Alina has extensive experience in advising clients in complex cases involving human rights and discretionary aspects or circumstances outside of the Immigration Rules as well as high-profile political asylum cases. Alina has a very high success rate in difficult cases where she often persuades the UK Home Office to exercise discretion and approve applications where the clients do not fully satisfy the relevant requirements of their immigration category.
She has successfully represented clients in appeals and judicial review challenges at various levels of Immigration Tribunal as well as acting for clients from various jurisdictions in high profile applications to the European Court of Human Rights.
Alina qualified as a solicitor in 2011. She is dual qualified in Ukraine. She is fluent in Russian and Ukrainian.
