Jo has worked on secondment for many years in national museums and higher education institutions and for charities. She understands clients’ objectives and the market they operate in and can apply her legal expertise to help clients achieve the outcomes they desire.
Jo is a senior associate, who works entirely on secondment, but is attached to the intellectual property and commercial team.
Following qualification Jo specialised in charity and education law. Her main interest now is helping universities, museums and charities navigate the regulatory framework and fulfil their charitable purposes as effectively as possible. Working in house enables Jo to understand clients’ priorities.
Jo’s experience spans the range of issues faced by universities from constitutional and governance questions to commercial agreements relating to catering, security, cleaning and other facilities. She routinely advises on academic collaborations, grant documentation and contractual arrangements for students and alumni development.
At museums her focus is more on commissioning agreements, tour documentation, event management and sponsorship. Jo's work for charities includes GDPR compliance and legacy advice.
The breadth of Jo’s experience allows her to identify legal issues and devise solutions that are helpful and achievable for the client. Jo is able to tap into the specialist knowledge at the firm for detailed help on reputational, digital, IT and employment matters.
