Jonathan is a specialist construction lawyer, advising various clients across a number of sectors on all types of development projects. As well as advising developers, investors, funders and consultants on procurement contracts, he also advises clients on the construction law aspects of finance, real estate and corporate transactions.

Jonathan is an associate in the Farrer & Co construction group, specialising in all aspects of transactional and advisory construction law matters.

He mainly represents investment funds, developers and building owners, banks and alternative lenders, charities and institutions, education providers, private individuals and professional consultants.  

Jonathan's experience includes drafting, negotiating and advising on construction documents, such as standard form and bespoke building contracts, consultancy appointments, collateral warranties and third party rights, bonds, guarantees, development and funding agreements. He also regularly advises on construction aspects of project finance, real estate and corporate transactions.

Jonathan also has experience in the resolution of disputes and insurance issues arising from construction projects.

  • Jonathan's recent work highlights include
       
    • Assisted a professional membership organisation with its contractual arrangements in relation to extensive re-development works to its headquarters, with a construction value in excess of £60m

    • Acted for a leading international financial services business in connection with its construction contracts for the £17m refurbishment and fit-out of its new offices

    • Represented an investment fund in relation to the construction aspects of numerous commercial property acquisitions, development and re-development projects, including an £8m re-development of one of its prime City properties, and

    • Advised an independent school concerning the extension and refurbishment of an existing building, as well as the construction of a new state of the art facility, with a total construction cost of £14m.
