The government published a new Enterprise Bill yesterday which contains two employment related provisions:
- the creation of a new criminal offence if employers provide or offer work described as an “apprenticeship” if it is not, in fact, a statutorily approved apprenticeship scheme; and
- the power to introduce a statutory instrument which restricts public sector exit payments to no more than £95,000. The definition of exit payment provided in the Bill covers ex gratia payments but also includes payment for any outstanding entitlement, payments in lieu of notice or shares/share options.
