Senior executives and partners operating at the very highest levels derive huge satisfaction from the part they play in leading successful businesses. The demands of those roles are such that individuals often need specialist legal advice, whether pursuing a high profile move to a new organisation, considering a step up to the board and negotiating new contract terms or considering exit from their current organisation. Increasingly, senior executives are also faced with evolving compliance and corporate governance requirements, and sometimes scrutiny from shareholders and the general public; all areas that can give rise to the need for expert legal support.

We are one of the leading advisers to senior executives and our specialist lawyers have many years’ experience supporting "high-flyers" at critical points in their careers. Clients rely on us to help them make the strategic decisions that are right for them in the long term. We work with leaders across a range of sectors including banking, financial services, professional services, outsourcing, manufacturing, mining and retail. We act for board directors and senior managers in public and private companies, and partners and LLP members in legal and other professional services and investment firms.

We advise on partner and team moves, contract negotiations, incentive arrangements, restrictive covenants, severance negotiations and exits. We regularly support directors in potential conflict with shareholders or other members of the board, and those bringing or defending complaints.  We support individuals facing regulatory investigations.

We advise also individuals and management teams investing in (often private equity backed) businesses, and executives receiving a significant proportion of their compensation package in equity.

Our breadth of experience is such that we have the technical expertise to advise you, whatever the challenge, as well as a broader understanding of the world in which you operate. We appreciate the value of a pragmatic approach to sensitive negotiations; and know how important it is to be available to respond quickly in high pressure scenarios.

We treat every relationship we develop as one for the long term. We regularly go on to work with our senior executive clients on corporate or investment matters for new ventures or in relation to property, wealth succession or family issues.

Senior Executives - Investigations

Our Investigations team has a wealth of experience advising senior executives and equity partners who find themselves subject to or otherwise participating in workplace investigations. We have acted for numerous senior individuals facing, sometimes high profile, investigations into alleged misconduct (ranging from bullying or harassment in the post #MeToo era to dishonesty and financial irregularity). We are experienced in navigating clients through investigations to ensure the optimum outcome for them at often critical junctures in their career, including preservation of reputation.

We assist clients in preparing for investigatory interviews, and will advise on any evidence considered as part of the investigation and on the appropriate process an employer should follow, where necessary, challenging that process if it is not carried out fairly in a manner which properly protects our client’s position.

We work with individuals in a range of sectors and regulated environments, including lawyers, accountants, FCA regulated individuals and directors of listed companies, and understand the impact that oversight by a regulator may have on the conduct of an investigation and the impact on individuals’ careers. With access to leading reputation management advice, we can provide comprehensive support during the investigation process, which can be a turbulent and stressful time, both for the individual and their family, particularly in cases with press interest.
