Jennifer advises lender and borrower clients on a range of UK and cross-border financings. She has particular expertise in secured lending transactions in the real estate finance sector and art finance, as well as advising on private credit transactions and bespoke lending arrangements across a variety of industries and sectors.

Jennifer works with financial institutions, corporates, charities, trustees and individuals on financing matters, including acquisition financing and general bank lending. She also advises clients on securing luxury assets, such as art.

She has particular experience in real estate financings, acting for both lender and borrower clients on investment and development financings, often involving acquisition and cross-border elements. She has acted on a wide range of real estate asset classes, including hotels, shopping centres, prime London offices and residential properties.

Jennifer is known for her collaborative working style, responsiveness and strong focus on meeting her clients’ demands in a timely and focussed manner.

A secondment with the HSBC UK Commercial Real Estate team also gave Jennifer a valuable insight into the practical processes of lenders and how transactions are approached from a client perspective. This experience helps her to manage lending transactions in a commercially effective and smooth way.

Jennifer is also a MHFA trained Mental Health First Aider and an active member of the Farrer race, ethnicity and culture employee impact group and the Farrer health, wellbeing and disability employee impact group. 

Work Highlights

Residential portfolio financing: advised a property investment group on a £33 million financing secured against a large residential rental property portfolio in London consisting of over 200 properties.

Hotels financing: we acted for a private bank on an £80 million financing of a hotels portfolio owned by an English borrower group consisting of companies, trusts and limited liability partnerships. The transaction required a bespoke approach to the financing documents and due diligence given the complex nature of the borrower group and assets.

Co-Living development financing: advised a lender on a £20 million development loan facility (converting into an investment loan following practical completion) to a borrower building a residential co-living project in London.

Infrastructure works financing: advised a private bank on its provision of £20 million of financing to fund the infrastructure works phase of a multi-purpose development, including residential units, student accommodation and retail units, in a major University town in England.

Counsel to specialist art and jewellery lender: regular advice to a specialist art lender on financing and refinancing art and jewellery collateral for high-net-worth individuals.

Lending to independent schools: acted for a London-based charitable independent schools trust on a £7.8 million loan from a major retail bank to refinance existing debt and fund improvements to school structures. The loans were secured over various school sites, including by third party mortgages from affiliated charitable school trusts.

Investors: advised a high-net-worth investor client on the debt elements of their £15 million investment in a luxury aesthetics business.

Documentation projects: advised a private bank on the preparation of new template documentation for their regulated and unregulated mortgage products as part of an automation project.
