Leading London law firm Farrer & Co has today announced the launch of its new Practice Assistant apprenticeship scheme, with the first cohort of apprentices due to arrive at the firm later this summer.

Farrer & Co has offered business services apprenticeships since 2017 and expanded its offering in 2022 to include solicitor apprenticeships. This new initiative targets those seeking a pathway to becoming a Practice Assistant.

As part of the new scheme, the firm will recruit four new practice assistant apprentices, each of whom will rotate through four different departments in four-month "seats" over the course of their contract and studies. This structure is designed to provide a robust foundation for completing their modules, while also offering opportunities to transition into various teams post-apprenticeship, with the benefit of cross-department collaboration and relationships developed throughout the programme.

Christine Yeomans, Head of HR Operations, commented:

"As a firm that is committed to nurturing and developing future talent, we’re pleased to be launching our new Practice Assistant apprenticeship scheme. Farrer & Co’s business services and solicitor apprenticeship initiatives have proven highly successful, offering an alternative route into career pathways at a leading law firm – and our new Practice Assistant scheme will form another core part of this.

We pride ourselves on our welcoming culture, and always aim to ensure new team members are fully supported when they join the firm. One way we do this is through providing a buddy – a familiar, friendly face who can offer advice and answer any questions. Throughout the programme, our practice assistant apprentices will have a buddy in each ‘seat’ and a mentor to provide the necessary guidance and support."

Applications for the practice assistant apprenticeships are now open, with successful candidates joining the firm in September 2024. To apply for the apprenticeship, please see here.
