Leading law firm Farrer & Co has announced that Clare Reddy, a Construction Partner in the firm’s Commercial Property practice, has been appointed as a member of the British Property Federation’s (BPF) Development Committee.

This appointment follows Clare’s arrival at Farrer & Co in September 2023, which has seen her expertise in construction law further strengthen the firm’s existing construction practice, and its offering in areas including regeneration, mixed use development, and the refurbishment and fitting out of commercial property.

Clare’s appointment to the Committee follows a series of recent initiatives from both Farrer & Co and the BPF as part of their commitment to developing research, and to supporting organisations in the built environment sector with meeting sustainability targets. Recently, Farrer & Co published its ‘Placemaking 2: A stewardship approach to creating communities’ report, which highlighted the importance of a long-term outlook for community development schemes. Meanwhile, the BPF is commissioning its own research into the net zero data challenges facing the built environment, aiming to help plug the data gap, which is backed by Farrer & Co.

Clare’s appointment to the Development Committee will see the firm continue to work closely with the BPF. As part of her role on the Committee, Clare will be supporting the BPF in driving its policy and research initiatives, including plans to offer best practice guidance on public and private partnerships, and helping deliver sustainable communities.

Commenting on her appointment to the Development Committee, Clare Reddy said: “The British Property Federation is the voice for the built environment sector, and is at the forefront of thought leadership and policy proposals for the industry. I am delighted to be joining the Development Committee and to be playing a part in supporting the Federation’s valuable work – which includes promoting stewardship as key to delivering sustainable communities. This strongly aligns with Farrer’s work in this area, and I look forward to working alongside the other Committee members in helping the BPF achieve its goals.”
