Law firm Farrer & Co has appointed barrister Katie Fudakowski as a partner in its market-leading Safeguarding Unit.

Katie, who arrived from Old Square Chambers, is a specialist in employment and safeguarding law. Among other things, she has dealt with safeguarding-related litigation including Teaching Regulation Authority prosecutions, the Independent Inquiry into Child Sex Abuse (IICSA), and Special Education Needs and discrimination cases brought before the First Tier Tribunal.

Senior partner Anne-Marie Piper says: “Katie’s passion for protecting children and vulnerable adults mirrors our own and she brings real experience and insight. We are thrilled to have her on board.”

Katie says: “I loved my time at Old Square Chambers but when I was given the opportunity to focus on safeguarding I jumped at it. I’m delighted to be working with such a fantastic and talented team.”

Katie started her time at Farrers just as the country went on lockdown and she has enjoyed meeting her new colleagues and clients via Skype, Zoom and other virtual networks.

Note to editors: This is the firm’s third lateral hire this year. Georgina James from BCLP and Mark Burgess-Smith, latterly from Linklaters, joined in February in the private wealth and real estate teams respectively.
