Farrer & Co gives Pro Bono training about third-party interventions to LGBTQIA+ global rights charity, ReportOUT
News
As part of our commitment to Pro Bono and strengthening the Rule of Law, we recently trained a global group of advocates for LGBTQIA+ human rights about third-party interventions. Sometimes called amicus curiae or amicus briefs, third-party interventions are 'the friend of the Court' – they can provide additional legal detail or context to assist the Court when making a particularly complex decision.
A team of solicitors, trainees and legal apprentices from our Corporate, Banking and Insolvency, Private Client, Employment and Pro Bono teams gave the training to the charity, ReportOUT. The training forms part of ReportOUT's development opportunities for its members worldwide and we hope that it will assist in capacity-building in the team.
Phil Thomas, ReportOUT Trustee, wrote: "A huge thank you to the whole Farrer and Co team for delivering the training yesterday. The content was insightful, relevant and very well targeted to our audience of volunteers."
Drew Dalton, Chair and CEO of ReportOUT, added: "Farrer and Co delivered an exceptional training course to our volunteers, focused around the TPI process and how to engage with it. This filled a vital gap in our knowledge base and due to this, it will make an excellent addition to shaping both our global research and campaigns to improve the human rights of LGBTQ+ populations."
