Building on our long history of working Pro Bono for organisations such as the Mary Ward Legal Centre, where our trainees and solicitors have volunteered for many years, we are now building a new Pro Bono strategy to consolidate and strengthen our impact.

Our goal is to ensure that these initiatives are needs-driven, meaningful and empowering for our Pro Bono clients, delivering tangible benefits to those who need them most. At the same time, we recognise that our Pro Bono work not only strengthens our skills as solicitors but also enriches our firm, making Farrer & Co an even more fulfilling workplace.

Developing a Pro Bono practice is a rare privilege. It has allowed me to reflect on how this type of work is changing across the legal profession, and why creating a practice for a firm like Farrer & Co feels particularly important.”

Survivor of modern slavery

We created, and continue to administer, a trust for compensation given to a vulnerable survivor of modern slavery. This bespoke and innovative legal advice intends to safeguard the client from further victimisation and provide them with careful financial support for the rest of their life.

Young People's Life Café

We are privileged to work on a Pro Bono initiative called the ‘Young People's Life Café’, where our solicitors advise young people with a terminal diagnosis about wills and probate. The project, which is run in conjunction with counsellors at a hospital cancer service, is one that involves colleagues from our Private Client team.
