Amy is a corporate tax specialist advising on the UK tax aspects of a range of transactional and advisory matters. She regularly collaborates with the firm’s other practice areas, with a focus on corporate acquisitions and reorganisations, financing and funds transactions, charities and non-profits and real estate tax matters.

Amy has a straightforward and considered approach, supporting clients by providing focused and practical advice. She helps businesses, individuals and institutions grapple with complex tax issues and much of the work she does is international in nature.

Amy’s experience encompasses a variety of tax advisory matters, including: corporate restructurings and the availability of relevant UK tax reliefs, setting up appropriate asset acquisition and holding structures, and employment taxation. On transactional work streams she works closely with clients and colleagues within the firm to identify and negotiate tax-related protections on acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures.

She helps charities and non-profit institutions understand the VAT and other tax implications of their activities. In particular, she has advised on transactions involving the transfer of assets by and to charities, considering the application of relevant reliefs and anti-avoidance provisions. Amy has also worked closely with independent school clients preparing for the introduction of VAT on school fees.

On the real estate side, Amy regularly advises corporate, institutional and not-for-profit clients, negotiating the VAT and SDLT aspects of commercial property sale and development contracts. Her work also encompasses setting up tax-efficient property investment structures, in both commercial and residential contexts.

Amy also regularly does works for financial institution and funds clients, advising on the tax provisions of facility agreements and other financing arrangements. She has experience advising on the tax implications of funds mergers and other schemes of arrangements.
