Farrer & Co | Marianne Kafena, Partner

Practice areas

  • Private Client Services

Marianne advises multinational families and their private offices on the range of legal and practical complexities that arise when personal, business and trust assets are shared by more than one generation.

Marianne is a partner in the Private Client department and her clients tend to be families with businesses and private wealth located in more than one country. The work ranges from establishing and supporting the work of family offices, to structuring international personal and business assets taking account of cross-border tax and succession. One of the important aspects of Marianne’s work is ensuring that those involved in implementing a family’s plan maintain the enthusiasm and discipline required to see it through as practically and simply as possible.

Marianne speaks Arabic and French and grew up in Jordan. The families she advises tend to have strong links in Europe and the Middle East and their concerns tend to centre on personal and business succession, in a context of conflicting legal systems and emotionally-charged periods of transition.

Marianne qualified as a solicitor in 2000.

  • Marianne is recommended in the Legal 500 directory, which describes her as “standout”.
